There are a few on the thread in Race, but I thought I ought to shove more in the Gallery

Here are some of the machines:

Technical Q: The third photo in the first post is distorted.  How can I get it to post with the proper proportions?

I'm having technical issues, which is why the photos are slow in coming.  My PC is grinding to a halt.  I think I need to move all my media to an external drive. :(

And Photoshop wasn't playing fair yesterday, so the only photo I've managed to edit so far was a crop on Knut. >:(

It looks like the Forum software has "imposed" automatic restrictions on the physical size of images, and since that one is portrait rather than landscape, it has suffered rather from distortion.  Try swapping the height and width values that the software has added to the img tags eg:

Actually, it is rocket science.

He did ride the race carrying a pannier. :o

Since that's the machine that went round the world, and up to Everest Base Camp, I think that's the most wonderful machine in the field.

I say, top piccies

This may be entering the C family's 2011 diary ...

Obviously the old (period?) costumes -n-stuff are brilliant, but I also loved seeing guys in full 2010 racing gear riding these brilliant antiques; ludicrous yet magnificent.

The regularly spaced bits of Duck Tape holding the tyre on the rim of the bike in front must have made life interesting.

The tape didn't last long, either.  A few laps later, it was flapping around, having worn through...

Andy Gates is inexorably turning into Wilf Lunn, isn't he?

That's you and my brother who've said that.  Time for a straw boater!  But Kat is the one that makes weird pedalable art-gadgets...

According to the bumf, Josef's machine isn't antique, even though it looks it: it's just been raced to Hell and back (possibly racing the Devil himself).

The Devil went down to Knutsford, lookin' for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind when he spied a bunch of wheels.
He came upon those two girls ridin' pennies and ridin' them hot,
And he hopped his cloven leg on his mountin' peg and said "Ladies, tell you what,
I bet you didn't know it but I'm a highwheel racer too,
And if you'd care to make a dare I'll make a bet with you.
Now you ride a pretty fine penny, girl, but give old Josef his due:
I bet a cycle of gold against your souls, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.
