I don't buy much IT stuff these days, when I do, it tends to be through Amazon or Scan for serious stuff, and eBay for throwaway commodity cables etc. As I appear to be in the market for a few drive like things at the very minimum, I was wondering who I might be missing.
-
There are a number of parts establishments I use, but they do come and go. I tend to choose a component then google for suppliers, checking them for longevity and so on. Amazon are quite last on my list as a principle.
-
Ebuyer?
-
Ebuyer, mainly out of habit. Sometimes Scan. Sometimes whoever actually has whatever it is I'm looking for in stock.
-
Ebuyer, if I have to (sometimes they can't be beaten on price or are the only supplier to have stock), but would much rather use CCL.
-
Box.co.uk. Probably not as big a range as Ebuyer etc, but sometimes cheaper and faster delivery.
-
cpc.farnell.com
Based out of Preston. Really good for PCB components too.
-
Some interesting additional names there, thanks. I ended up ordering through scan, as cheap as anywhere and next day delivery (eBuyer was quoting 5 days for a stock item )
As it goes, one of the items was DOA, and it was on the returns email that I noticed:
By Appointment To
Her Majesty The Queen
High Performance Personal Computers & IT Hardware
Scan Computers International Ltd
Bolton
What IS Maj getting up to???

She's setting up the British Library Special Operations Task Force, to re-establish the Empire after the world burns. High performance computing is just the tip of that iceberg - you should see the SEEKRIT BUNKER they've built to stockpile tea.

and Corgi* food...
*Other breeds may well be available but don't bother bringing them to _our_ Palace
-
Memory and SDD direct from Crucial.
-
The ones I use most is
Ebuyer
Scan
CPC
Misco
Amazon
-
Misco went bust last year unfortunately. I used to use them a lot.
-
CCL are quite good, although most of my experience with them has been for whole computers.
