What 406 rim?
« on: 11 May, 2018, 08:13:59 pm »
I'll soon be getting started on rebuilding the ICE tandem trike which has recently returned after being blasted and resprayed by Kinetics in Glasgow.

I need a new rear wheel though and require a 36h 406 rim to use with a Deore hub that I already have.  Any recommendations for a rim braked rim suitable for this bike?

Just checked my Moulton tandem, but only 32H (Gussetrix)

I'd contact ICE.
Even if you don't buy one from them, I'm sure they have a list of rim they'd recommend for this project.

Halo Sub 4 comes in 36 hole with a CNC rim. https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Halo-Sub-4-BMX-Racing-20-Rim_59522.htm I have a 32h one on the front of my RANS. Very impressed. The spoke holes are offset L/R alternately.

I used a Sun CR18 on the front of my Vanguard. Seems reasonable quality and they do it in various spoke hole counts including a 36. I got mine from SJS.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.  I might buy the Sun rim, mainly because I already have an account with SJS anyway.

I used one of these (IIRC in a 32 hole flavour) on the front of my Streetmachine, also from SJS.  It seems decent, is very shiny and a 40mm Marathon goes on and off without any drama.
