GN: I have a long weekend free, a new map and 11 pieces of green and orange cardboard.
BN: Failing to get round to finding places to stay, so far only have the first night sorted.
GN: This might just "have" to turn into camping.
BN: The bad news is really rather contrived, isn't it?

GN: Places to stay are sorted.
BN: No camping.
GN: I think I'll enjoy it more without lugging the extra stuff about and sleeping in a marginally warm enough (for the North East coast in late October) sleeping bag.

Download a template from the internet, print it out, and use some sharp scissors on the sim card :-)  I did this for the wife's phone no problem.

I did consider applying the Dremel, but the cutters are so cheap (and have worked well from standard to micro) that I will go that way.

B: I managed to throw half my coffee down my white shirt at lunchtime, and I've got a meeting with a new client this afternoon.

G: If you buy a shirt from charles tyritt [30 quid] they'll iron it for you.

GN: Got my camera back from the rozzers.

BN: The lens hood I bought for it is the wrong size. Hooter.

More GN: They want a statement from me (the rozzers, not the lens hood people).

Update on this. A month or so back I gave a statement at my local nick.  A couple of weeks back I had a call from them saying a collar had been felt, followed by an interview without coffee or biscuits. However chummy, who later sold the camera to a cash for goods place in Sarf Lunnon,  maintained he'd bought the camera off a geezer in the street. Which sounds as dodgy as a whole pack of jammy dodgers.  Email today saying after trying to put him near the scene of the crime using mobile phone and Oyster card records, they couldn't, so it's going to remain on file should anything else come to light.

GN: My train to Gloucester is not running late.
BN: My train to Gloucester is ahead of schedule so we get extra time in Swindon.

At least I don't have to get off the train.

I had a 9.20 appointment for a blood test this morning, at the surgery about 100 metres from here.
BN: I arrived about 5 minutes late.
GN: I was seen almost immediately
BN: The first attempt to extract blood went wrong.
GN: The second went fine.
GN: We were home at 09.40
BN: Parcel Force left a card to say they had attempted to deliver a parcel at today. The card did not state a time.
GN: Online tracking states delivery was attempted at 09.30 and states where parcel originated.
BN: I don't know what's in the parcel. My only outstanding internet order is for a piano stool, which I made 10 days ago; delivery time was stated as 4-6 weeks.
The supplier and the parcel's origin are about 300 miles apart...

I've occasionally had to visit Swindon. As soon as possible, I retreat to the Glue Pot in the old railway housing. I find Swindon quite bearable while I'm there. Very short walk from the station.

Until 1895 all trains waited for at least ten minutes in Swindon. This was because Brunel had spent so much on proper engineering there was no money left to build a station at Swindon. A local caterer agreed to fund the station in return for an exclusive concession there and no catering on the trains. By 1895, the GWR had got so fed up with complaints from passengers about the expensive, poor quality food, they decided to buy him out. So sit back and enjoy your Victorian experience!

Bzzt!  Repetition.

Not building a station at Swindon seems like proper engineering to me.

Dear Sir,

I assure you Mr Player was wrong in supposing that I thought you had purchased inferior coffee. I thought I said to him that I was surprised you should buy such bad roasted corn. I did not believe that you had such a thing as coffee in the place; I am certain that I never tasted any. I have long ceased to make complaints at Swindon. I avoid taking anything there when I can help it.

Yours faithfully,

I.K. Brunel

No, that's the BMW MINI factory. Which explains the coffee.

GN I'm off work tomorrow

BN because they are replacing the mains power feed for each flat in my block, so I've got to be in the flat all day so the spark can get in, and the power will be off all day :-(

GN: They had Timothy Tailor Landlord which I'm looking forward to trying tonight.

GN: It's not broken!  ;D
BN: No running for three weeks!   :(

Out for a run this morning, pre dawn, and I was crossing a grass verge using a path worn through the grass. I was using a torch at the time but didn't see the lump of concrete sticking out of it and landed on it with the ball of my right foot. At first I thought it was just a twisted ankle and hobbled on and when the pain stopped I started to run again, 2k to home.
At home the top of my foot became extremely painful and I borrowed a walking stick and made my way to A&E. Two hours later, via X-ray, and it's just soft tissue damage just in front of the ankle. Light exercise and no impact sport. Doc said about a week of that and then two weeks for the pain to go.
