Can't do this Friday (12th). I'm heading into the big smoke for a bit of a shindig. 19th I'm heading up to Edinburgh for the weekend, and 26th I'm going to Bristol. July 3rd could be a goer then* - night before the Dun Run!

[Edit] If we take in the Leather Bottle at Blackmore, we could also stop at the Viper.

*I might as well just hold out 'til August! ::-)

I guess an other alternative (rather than holding out until August!?) would be to do an EnFNRttP (Essex non-Friday Night Ride to the Pub).

That could work, this Saturday? Or any week night.

I can't do this Friday - already have an environmental piss-up planned.

The time of year is here when lovely light evening rides are there for the enjoying. I'm game, but the later in the week, the better. I take my tablets on a Monday and try not to drink anything until Wednesday at the earliest. ;D

I am monitoring this post, I will seek what release permits I can have in the near future. I like MO's suggestion starting at Margretting, Rose and Crown at Gt Waltham near me does nice real ale and pig snacks could be a finishing point, that'll make four pubs south to north.

Jazz and beer festival at Fuller Street in August should be good, its their first one.

We've got a friend staying over on Saturday, so that's out ... I can do Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week though.  I have a slight preference for Wednesday (well, Mrs. O does actually).

Chaps (of the male and female variety, plus all other varieties), could I just point out that the Square & Compasses (Fuller Street) Beer & Jazz Festival starts on the evening of Friday 7th August and goes on all weekend  :o   ;D

I mentioned to Victor (genial host of said pub) that we might put in an appearance to help him drink his beer.  Incredibly he seemed to think this was a good idea.  Clearly our reputation isn't as bad as we might like to think.

Do we have a plan?

HELLO, YES! Since our last visit there - where I managed to get lost finding the place even though it's only five and a half miles from where I live ::-) - I have ridden and memorised the most direct route using only the finest country lanes. I am so up for this that I am almost bursting. ;)

I guess we need to decide when we attend.

Friday - or it won't be a proper EFNRttP - then Saturday and Sunday just to make sure we've done it right.

I have had a meeting with Head Office and looked at the pub's website and wish to advance the following plan for consideration ...

On the opening night (Friday 7th August '09 in case you haven't been keeping up) the Ray Ward Trio will strike up at 7pm and the spit roast will also spark up at the same time.  How about we assemble at 7pm?  We will have Twinkle Toes the 9-year old with us who likes a good pub, in particular the S&C so feel free to bring your ankle bitters if you have them.

If anyone wants to meet at our place I can always lead us on a entertaining and circuitous route to Fuller Street.

How does this sound or has anyone got an even better idea?

What could possibly be better? See you there at 7, on the 7th - fortuitous or what.

I'm in.

Edit: Just remembered why Aug 7th was ringing bells. I've a BBQ to attend but no address as to where it is. If the address springs forth I'll be getting tinnies and E.Coli instead of hand pumped and jazz.

This will not be tolerated  >:(  You will get yourself a reputation and I for one know how difficult it is to shake a reputation once gained  ;D

There is a potential for both. The BBQ involves kids and so will start in the afternoon. I can't eat a whole one in one sitting, teethgrinder I'm not, so I could slip out in time for EFNRttP and come back for the rest late in the evening.

This is terrible. EFNRttP was never meant to clash with FNRttC. :(

I would love to, but i will be in the North Pennines, recovering from the Hill training i will make myself do whilst there.

There's a chance (fairly slim though) that i may get back on Saturday night early enough to spin over there to support the S&C cause, but I can't guarantee, however, if anybody is doing Saturday and/or Sunday as well as the Friday than I may see you there.

Enjoy the Friday Night opening sesh -- should be good.

Cheers,
Mark

There's a train leaving White Notley at 10.08 p.m. Gets into LST at 11.03. Fuller Street to White Notley Station is only about 4 miles. Easy!
