SRAM Automatix / Twin Chainring. Possible?
« on: 13 June, 2023, 08:07:19 pm »
This is all rather hypothetical, but I was wondering if it would be feasible to run a SRAM Automatix hub with a twin chainring set up. Obviously I'd need a chain tensioner, but aside from the other hardware, is there anything else to consider?

What's the widest chainring combo a tensioner could handle? Any recommendations for a good tensioner?

You could run any derailleur with the upper and lower end stop screws locking the mech in place and no cable, may require longer than standard screws though.

For any jockey wheel based solution, the quality of the bearings/bushing will determine how durable things are, match the derailleur "speed" to the width of the chain.

You could even go for a triple chainset, if such things still exist with decent quality.
