I was waiting for the replacement of the faulty bike that was delivered last week. It wasn't dispatched. I now have to wait until Thursday for the replacement of this one so I can get commuting again.

Smacked my knee on something when working on boats. Cycling will be out for a few days.

The twinge I felt yesterday in my knee has turned into a swollen and very painful knee this morning. Meant I had to get the train. I don't linke the train.

I had a m/bike theory test & hazard perception test appointment at 8am in central Bristol and didn't fancy getting up at 6am to cycle there.

(I passed).

Buyer for boat wanted to meet tonight to handover keys and discuss some technical things.

So I came to work via train.

At 9am he rings to say can he meet sat or sun instead.

I could have cycled or taken the bus instead of the bloody incredibly expensive train. That's cost me £10 (more than taking the bus).

Plus I needed to bring some doorstop-sized books in to work.

I.'m in Tulsa with a rented bike and summerish kit and looking out at torrential rain and sub 5 degrees early morning temperatures.   Have bought some heavier weight kit and waiting for the worst of the rain to pass.

I struggled to open a window because of the wind.  My commute (regardless of route) is mostly open areas and wind tunnels.  The headwind I can manage, but getting hit broadside by a gust does not appeal.  Back on the Tube for me. :(

the usual cycle commute was substituted by a train to london bridge today to have my elbow fettled; sampled some fentanyl, morphine and codeine in the process (pain - what pain?!). back home in a sling and with head-less radial bone. things you do to save the weight!

I hardly slept after rotten, stressed weekend.

Finally went to sleep around 4am. Woke to 20mph winds, rain and 1C temp. Decided to catch bus instead; I usually get 45sleep on bus.

Substitute bus with old-style seats (ending mid-back) absolutely crammed. Single-decker rather than double decker.

Great. Now fed up because I didn't ride and still didn't get any more sleep.

I so do not want to ride past where 3 people have died on their bikes, within a week.

 :'(

I'll work from home instead

Hugs to Ham

Everyone at work keeps telling me I am so brave to cycle in London.  It shouldn't be like that.

It's having an effect further afield, I haven't wanted to commute all week due to these (even though only 2 miles out of 9 are on road)

This.
Whilst York doesn't seem to have the same automotive fuckwittery that plagues London (although I did spot someone's successful attempt to wrap a Honda Civic round a set of traffic lights on Wednesday) the combination of people getting mown down and the fact that my commute home is uniquely horrible has mean that I've not really fancied riding at all this week - at least on the turbo trainer I know that nobody will try to kill me.

I'm currently avoiding one road I could commute on because of a motorcyclist being killed by a truck on it last week. Strange how it affects you. Working from home sounds like a good choice.

... I'm working at home.

Or rather, I'm trying to - a combination of post-retinopathy scan inability to focus properly is making things a bit tricky. My terminal windows are currently using a 24pt font and I'm still having trouble  :-\

Didn't get to sleep until after 2am and woke to a 20mph headwind.

Resolutely forced myself to sleep on the (unheated) bus. Woke in the bus depot. Empty bus. Doors locked.

I've done that, the number 8 night bus from the LSE back home in Bow. Woke up curled up on the top deck in a garage in Romford full of whistling mechanics.

I was regretting not riding in yesterday until I heard that the peak gusts on the bridge were over 100mph.
