I am planning to ride up to Bentley.  It's not exactly far.  Mind you after having my first ride in two weeks yesterday, I might not be saying that on Sunday.

Switching to gears for this.  Is it a thing that when you go from fixed to gears your pedalling becomes a bit odd ?  For the first few miles yesterday it was almost as if I was missing a bit of the circle  :o

I've not looked at the route, but I think I will be getting dropped off at Bentley...

In other news, new axel on rear hasn't fixed wheel, so I've been down the bike shop and we discovered 3 defects in the side wall and put the wheel on a stand and its very very slightly buckled... rear disc is bent also... so new disc to install tonight and swap over the Mondials for a spare set of Duranos.... it will be interesting to see what effect that has on the ride over to the PH on Wed.

Joergen

That's perfectly normal! Your legs get used to being pushed over the dead spot on fixed.

I think I shall drive to the start on Sunday. Bit worried about my knee which I twisted yesterday when I fell over. I thought the falling over thing would stop when I stopped drinking  :P

Stopping drinking doesn't make you immune from gravity!

Thank you.  You can be my deputy fixed guru.  I even got off the bike to check the bb

I think I am beginning to prefer fixed overall.  Maybe a case of n-1 in the new year.

So, I think we have the following riding on Sunday:

1. me
2. Tippers
3. Bobb
4. Beau Brummell
5.the Hustler
6. Sister Carol
7. Doggers
8. Tomsk S Eliot

Looks like too many fast ones for my liking.  Bobb, I will be relying on your knee staying bad so that I can have some company.

According to Beau Brummell's Facebook feed, yes of course they did.  No doubt a full report will follow...

Ah, I missed that.  Well done chaps!  Was there a section on dogging?

Is that a stupid question? Of course we did! can't quite remember the final score but we were clearly out of sight of the opposition. Feeling slightly jaded this morning....

Sorry I bailed out at the last minute but work was getting out of hand yesterday afternoon plus I too was feeling jaded after a work event (or "off site" as ted refers to them) on Tuesday.  I spent nearly £400 on booze and a bit of food, no idea what my colleagues spent and there weren't that many customers with us.

Oh by the way, on Tuesday night I was introduced to espresso martinis.  The vodka martinis were quite nice too.  If I find any MEMWNS pubs serving the above mentioned I shall be forsaking the beer and G&T ...

I like that you are embracing the new you - not so much beer and bikes but plenty of cocktails and swag.

Perhaps you are better suited to TOWIE than MEMWNS  :o

For some, the trauma of the 'Initiation Ceremony' is enough to put them off pickled eggs for life  ;D...

There were 3 chaps at the bar putting pickled eggs in crisp packets on Wednesday night, their crisp of choice was cheese & onion. No reason behind it, though they did say no point in using salt & vinegar as there is enough vinegar on the eggs already... horses for courses I guess!

It's the flashbacks that keep the trauma alive  :P

With OD's retirement from audax (and, it appears, beer), we only really have Bobb representing the original Pickled Kings on Sunday.

Their love of pickled eggs has spread to an alarmingly high number of mid-essexers who actually seem to enjoy eating these monstrosities.  We also have a disproportionate number of marmite lovers. I am in neither camp, my audax weapon of choice being scotch eggs.

I think we all share an enjoyment of Essex energy drinks though and are certainly open to any offers on that line...

Have you tried a pickled egg with marmite, Ted? Food for the dogs...

On Tuesday evening I washed down a rather fine Scotch egg with my espresso Martini. The yolk was still runny and the sausage meat beautifully seasoned.

That's the sort of bling scotch egg that I would expect a lover of cocktails to be eating.

Actually, I have to confess I was drinking Porn Stars, mojitos and WooWoos last night.

In my defence there was no ale available at said premises.

I am not certain that Turkish restaurants are big on scotch eggs but had they been I am sure they would have been suitably bling.

You can think on us hooning up to Norfolk or wherever we are going on Sunday and living on ginsters and milk shakes as you sit drinking espresso martinis and eating freshly peeled grapes .
