Whatever the design, I think it needs an anvil :)

Perhaps I'm being dim but whats the significance of an anvil?

And also, is the jersey going to be exclusively ACME or is the MEMWNS going to get a mention too?  I appreciate there is only son much you can get on a jersey.

Yes  ;)

There are lots of print panels on a jersey, like sleeves, not just the main front and back areas.  I'm sure MEMWNS will feature prominently

It's going to get busy, but can we get RR on there?

Oh I see. But what have anvils got to do with us???  Or am I being pedantic?

I've lost count of the number of times I've been riding along and an anvil has fallen on my head. Has this never happened to you?

It usually happens to me when I am riding in the desert near overhanging cliffs.  Glad to know it's not just me.

The bit I really hate is when you think there is a road ahead but actually you end up suspended over a deep canyon.  You pedal hard for a few seconds in mid air and then you plummet into the ground.

OD just doesn't get out enough it seems.

I love this, we've just got the FB group name sorted and now we're embroiled in another controversy  ;D

I don't like this anvil thing, it's got bugger all to do with yacf in mid-Essex - so there  :P

And, stoking the fires of controversy still further, I think the MEMWNS needs a mention on our jersey.  If it's exclusively ACME it infers that all we are about is audaxing which isn't the case, we're a broader church than that ... an no, we don't need pictures of churches either.

By using the name ACME, you're automatically associated with anvils!*

Maybe "MEMWNS" could be around the sleeves. A bit like the rainbow stripes on the jersey of a former world champion?

*I don't actually care if there is an anvil on the jersey or not  :P

I didn't make the association!  Perhaps as a kid I didn't watch as many cartoons as you lot - I was too busy indexing my back copies of Practical Boat Owner, I bet ted did that too and it's whats made us the men we are

ACH have a stag on their kit.

If we are not having an anvil then we need an animal...

waits for deluge of suggestions.

For what it's worth,  I don't recall ever indexing OD's collection of Practical Boat Owner.  I would have been too busy reading the Hotspur.

We don't need an animal!  It's not essential we ape(*)  ACH you know.

(*) We don't need a monkey either.

I'm quite happy to let our artist in residence come up with an ACME design.

My own view is that is should look more "club jersey" and less "foska novelty item".  That said, I think the anvil wouldn't be the worst choice for an icon/device on the jersey - it evokes ACME quite well (at least to anyone who watched cartoons as a kid - the rest of us can patiently explain to OD and wowbagger).  For the "club jersey" reason,  I think it should be subtle... e.g. a silhouette, rather than a cartoon rendering, for example.

I think primarily it's an Audax Club Mid-Essex jersey, and so the ACME name should be prominent, and a set of three Essex Seaxes on a red panel/shield/bar would have to appear somewhere.

I do quite like bobb's MEMWNS round the sleeve idea.  MEMWNS being the origination of and ongoing social side to ACME.

My view ...

- Yes to the club jersey feel
- Still don't like the anvil thing
- We definitely need three Essex seaxes
- MEMWNS around the sleeve perhaps with the yacf logo would work well

We are all in danger of forgetting the first (and indeed only) rule of ACME - "what OD says goes".

I'm not trying to impose a view here.  I merely want to ensure a balance is maintained.  Yes, as a collective a lot of audaxing goes on which is no bad thing.  But, the glue that holds us all together is hooning around mid-Essex on a Wednesday evening.  The MEMWNS is the egg from which ACME and everything else hatched.

but the use of "ACME" appeals to our juvenile sense of humour

Anyway, I already have a MEMWNS branded jersey, where is yours ?

TBH, I don't make the automatic association of ACME and anvils, anvils are just one of the many useful things that the ACME Corporation make (and deliver to Wile E. Coyote)

A RR image could be equally misappropriate but childishly fun to have on our cycling jersey  ::-)

So, in addition to the anvil, we probably need a giant catapult and sticks of dynamite attached to a detonator.

That will all fit fine on Tippers' and Jibers' jerseys but what about the rest of us  :P

We could have a split personality jersey of ACME on the front and MEMWNS on the back, or vice versa  O:-)
