Help with Campagnolo shifters
« on: 14 January, 2022, 01:32:22 pm »

Following an off about 5 years ago I replaced my 10 speed 2005 Campag Centaur rear mech with a 2015 Campag Veloce rear mech. I couldn't seem to get the rear indexing set up very well so fitted Rivendell bar end shifters. They work, however, I do lose concentration momentarily as I change gear both front and back.
I've still got the original 10 speed Campag Centaur shifters and they have only covered appropriately 10000 miles,  they appear almost new on the outside. The front chainrings are TA 50, 39,26 and cassette is 13/26 Veloce. Would it be worthwhile getting the shifters serviced, or is there a degree of incompatibility with cable pull and or spring tension between 2005 Centaur and2015 Veloce? Or do I continue with bar ends which after 5 years I'm not entirely satisfied with.
Appreciate advice from more knowledgeable people on this forum.

Campag technical manual 2010-11 shows that pre 2010 parts are not compatible with post 2010.  It might however work adequately, just not guaranteed.  I have this page as a pdf or jpeg, but don't seem able to stick it on this answer.

Thanks fellas. I did read the fairly comprehensive article by Velotech and came to the same conclusion that my Centaur shifters are surplus to my requirements.
Just read another thread regarding bar end shifters,  I reckon I'll have to get used to them. Another 5 years. Otherwise it's a lovely bike. Thanks

You'll have no problems selling them.
