My cleaning lady tells me her 5½ year old son is getting mad on chess.
He's a small, shy, Romanian boy, who has a chess set and knows the moves.
Christmas is coming! Suggestions Wowbagger? Anyone?

If you can get a copy, in my experience by far the best teaching book around is the Comprehensive Chess Course by Roman Pelts and Lev Alburt.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dmi&field-keywords=roman+pelts
It's still available. I have both 1 and 2 in a single volume, dated 1992 and described as the "Third, enlarged edition".
Pelts was one of the top Soviet trainers and he left Ukraine to move to Canada in 1978. His co-author, Lev Alburt, is another Ukrainian and a pupil of Pelts, who defected to Canada a year later. Alburt won the US championship three times.
Without having met the lad, I reckon volume 1 would be more appropriate. There's quite a lot to get his teeth into. If he does rattle through it very quickly then he will have a birthday later for Vol 2!
