York social bike project
« on: 18 June, 2021, 11:47:05 am »
Hi

I seem to remember that someone of this parish was involved in a social bike project in York that did up and sold second hand bikes. Can anyone remember who it was?

I need to reduce my bike collection as I don't use any of them any more (since doing my shoulder in a few years ago). I was thinking that maybe I could swap all three for one straight bar road bike or hybrid somewhere like that.

I cant get along with the drop barred road bike any more and the single speed off road bike is a definite no no with my shoulder. The other is a pub bike and a hybrid would make it redundant anyway.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

It wasn't me, and I'm not involved in any way, but do you mean http://recycleyork.co.uk/? They buy bikes for cash, apparently. Or possibly https://www.getcycling.org.uk/, though I'm not sure if they take bikes in exchange.

I think it was recycle. I might give them a ring.

There was Bike rescue, which upgraded to expensive premises, ran out of money and closed.  Recycle is where I and a number of friends have found our stolen bikes  ::-)
