Using up beer
« on: 19 August, 2008, 12:40:26 pm »
As an aftermath of a Stag weekend, we find ourselves with a great deal of bright beer which needs to be consumed by Thursday at the latest. Most of the people who would usually assist us at times of crisis like this are either otherwise engaged, or hungover. Consequently, four of us are going to try and get through the remains tonight.

So far the menu is:

Beef Carbonnade (1 1/2 pints)
Porter-and-chocolate cake (1 pint)
Beer Bread (1/2 pint)

I'm contemplating beer-battered chillis, but that won't use up a huge amount.

It looks like we're just going to have to drink the rest!

Apparently, beer makes good hair conditioner, however that might be considered a waste.

Good luck with using up the beer.  It is dirty job, but someone has to do it :)

Hairy Bikers Bakers on BBC last night had a recipe for beer and cheese bread that looked good:

I looked at that recipe, but didn't have enough cheddar or fennel seeds (and I can't nip out to buy some, as I'm waiting for my bike to be delivered), so I just went with a basic wholemeal beer loaf from Leith's.

If you can keep it fresh 'til the weekend and get it to the Mildenhall Cycle Rally I can guarantee it will be gone in minutes ;).

Depends who's eating the chillis!

Why does it have to be consumed by Thursday?

'Cos it was bright beer, freshly tapped from the brewery.

But it's OK, we've finished it all now!
