The Young Ones first appeared on our TVs just as I moved into a student house with five other chaps. It was clear that what they presented was only a slight bending of reality. What a loss.

Shocking.  I wonder if it was related to his accident and period in a coma about ten years ago or so.

well, that's shit news. I loved Kevin Turvey, loved The Dangerous Brothers, Mr Jolly, God, basically everything he did, he popped up in a sitcom last year with that tall gangly comedian called Greg I think.

I used to score grass in a house next to his in West London, he had a tailor's dummy in the front room, would put on a show for all the local kids at Christmas.

56, no age.

1998, apparently.

It did leave him suffering from epilepsy, though, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it's related. I guess we'll find out in due course, but it's still incredibly sad news.

My sister is gutted - she met him and Ade Edmondson after a Bottom: Live show in Preston and declared that both Rik and Ade were two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

As Neil would have said: "That's a really heavy bummer, man"

Last time I checked God was worshipping him!  HOORAH!

Flasheart was one of TV's greatest ever characters, especially when you consider the amount of time he was actually on screen (ignoring the Bombadier Ale ads)

The comic actor later made light of the trauma at his Devon farm. "I beat Jesus Christ," he said. "He was dead for three days at Easter. When I crashed it was the day before Good Friday, Crap Thursday, and I was technically dead until Easter Monday – that's five days … beat him 5-3."

Flasheart was just inspired! Just watched a couple of Flashy scenes; they're fabulously un-pc and hilarious. What a talent, and what a shame. RIP Rik. Give that God some shit.
