In tis months Cycle magazine faux tubeless is discussed. Does the team think this has merit, has anyone tried it or does anyone have thoughts one way or another?

I glanced at it and wasn't convinced.

I read it and thought it's perhaps more like faux-tubular than faux-tubeless.

Richard does say that he experimented for a specific reason, and that he wouldn't be covering his bikes wholesale.

I had quite a long chat with Richard the other day. His argument is that the tube being glued to the tyre means that the two act as a single layer and sealant will work as with tubeless (but you need less, he says). But you can fit the prepared tyre to any rim without having to worry about tubeless preparation or compatibility. The tub cement he uses allows the tube to be removed from a worn-out tyre and reused. Apparently there is a patent dating from the 90s.

Is that a variation on the old Tufo clincher/ tubular hybrid system?

Apparently not. They were true tubulars but with extra beading moulded in to fit just one specific rim. Richard's system fits any rim (he says).

What happened to the old Wolber Liberty tubeless tubulars?

Has anyone tried it with TPU tubes for maximum niche-ness?
