Just got off the phone with Professor Larrington. They’re spending most of their time at the rural campus of Larrington Collij Oxfod but last week she stayed overnight in their town house. 8 degrees on arrival and reached a heady 13 after she'd switched the heating on and fled to the office for a Several of hours.

Virtually no extra snow today in the North Pennines. But the wind is blowing the snow of the fells back into the roads faster than the ploughs and blowers can clear it. So most of the roads have been closed all day, and will be tonight and untill the wind eases

It took the CH until ~ 14:00 to reach a survivable temp of 19°C

It was about 14C in here when I sat down at about 11am and the CH had been on from 7am. I then loaded the wood burning stove up. It's not normally on so early!

No rain yet, just a bit of spitting, but strong winds and 45mph gusts since early this morning. Probably around 2C now. But the icicle on our neighbours car is still there.

12 deg here tomorrow. That's shirt-sleeves weather if you're walking, and almost bike shorts weather (my limit is 13).

1.7C max today, but that's quite an advance on where we've been. Local weather forecast is for windy and 10C tomorrow. As the place is still covered in a healthy layer of snow, I guess it will be a mudbath.
