PIR Plug?

I'm putting up some LED curtain lights in my hallway. Ideally I'd like them to come on whenever someone is in the hallway. A quick search didn't find anything suitable, so any ideas from where I can get a PIR plug from?

Get a PIR intended for security lights and wire a socket onto it?

Wiring the PIR into the DC side of the LED power supply might be easiest. There are plenty of modules that will take a 12V input (or usually a much wider range) and switch it.

If you buy LED tape with a USB plug you could do also use something like this:

Just a different form factor, same voltage, use an adaptor ? I'd have no problems with using it.

There is, just not as a single unit. so either way you are increasing the component count...

I would support Kim and Grams suggestion, a battery powered PIR unit wired in to the DC voltage side of the LEDs seems like the least component count so far.

Not knowing any further details of the load and location of wiring thats about the best I can come up for you for a starter for ten

Thanks for the ideas. For about £17 I've found a PIR sensor that wirelessly operates a remote plug-in socket. It'll do, I spose. My sparky-fu isn't going to stretch to fettling wiring, I'm afraid.
