The X-Files is 9 seasons of 22 or 24 episodes.  About 141 hours.

Working my way through "Babylon Berlin".      I might give "Tinker Tailor: & "Smileys People" another run as well.

Do it. Some of it is a bit dated*, but the setpieces still work brilliantly and you'll still be left wondering how they managed to lever it into a primetime slot on US network TV. I can't make soup without becoming, for a moment, the Soup Nazi.

*there's the rich theme of people (who clearly have too much time on their hands) trawling through 80s/90s sitcoms and finding things to be offended by, like George Costanza's homophobia – kind of missing the point that George isn't supposed to be likeable, his list of on-show crimes and misdemeanours is epic, he killed his fiancée with cheap wedding invites, bowled children out of the way to escape a fire, and, let's not forget, treated his body as though it was an amusement park).

George Costanza is the greatest character in any sitcom ever. Fact.

Utterly appalling, totally hilarious.

One of my favourite George scenes:

The whole Human Fund thing was pure genius too.

Oh, Festivus.

On George's aspirations: "I'm going to read a book from beginning to end. In that order." The same episode (Summer of George) where he pioneers eating a block of cheese semi-clothed, surely a parable for these home-working times.

I liked the episode where George and Elaine's fortunes exchange.

One of the most subversive things about the show is that resists moralization and judgement. George doesn't fail because he's a rotten person, he fails because he's George.

The X-Files is 9 seasons of 22 or 24 episodes.  About 141 hours.

And that's just the original run.  You can add series 10 & 11 for another 16 episodes, two films and "The Lone Gunmen" spinoff ;D

Supernatural is just finishing it's the fifteenth and final season (bah). That'll give you around 330 episodes.

It's a lot better than the X-Files too.

Never watched 'Spooks'. Might give it ago. It'd see me through until they open the bunker.
