Can we talks carbon fork crowns partially drilled?
« on: 06 September, 2022, 06:43:53 pm »

So the new modern eBikey thing has those chunky rigid 'carbon' forks drilled for mudguards (and fortunately enough space for such). But the threaded hole doesn't go all the way through >:( Why would that be? Why stop short? Who thought it was a good idea? And can I shoot them at dawn?

It's a"hybrid" bike (not a racer) and the best* place to mount an Edelux headlight is on the bleedin' fork crown

Sorry, this should have gone in a rant thread obviously >:( >:( >:(

On mine, the crown has a blind, threaded (M6 I think) hole for a short bolt to secure the light. There is no need for it to go all the way through. At the back, there is similar for a mudguard.

They don’t want you tightening a gurt big bolt through and across their crown / bottom of steerer.
