fixed roadster?
« on: 18 August, 2008, 03:44:08 pm »

Is there any reason I shouldn't turn my fixie into more of a roadster style (ie add longer stem tube and shorter stem and change the handlebars)?

None at all.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

The Yanks do this a lot.  It's cool, I think.

I rode a converted drop bar frame the other day, short stem, swept back roadster bars

It rode all wrong, the steering was quicker than a very quick thing, all over the shop, it works but it doesn work very well with out the relaxed head and seat tube angles of a purpose built roadster

Try it and see  :)
I've run fixies with straight or inverted moustache bars and they rode fine.
Just returned from a fixed tour on straight-barred Trek Soho  - very comfy ride

well, apart from not having ridden a roadster since mid 1980s it feels fine.  Admittedly I only tried on the flat, it may be a problem pulling on such high bars when trying to get up what passes around here for a hill.

I did it with my Pompino

It rode really quite well
