Title: Is there a thread for DIY camping gear?

Saw the purple diggers and thought of this DIY/MYOG: http://bazbackpack.blogspot.com/2009/06/tent-peg-toilet-trowel.html

That's interesting - they've taken a tent peg and modified it to be usable as a trowel which is twice as heavy as the Deuce#2 (which can also be used as a tent peg anyway...)

It's beyond interesting - it's amazing. Otoh, there was no 'Deuce 2' when the chap came up with his idea and he wouldn't have known he wasn't saving 19 grams.
There is also the question of price. The peg is £4.52 on eBay, corks are free and the Duct tape to bind it on is dual purpose for a cycle camper.
Each of the 19g saved cost 84p. Bargain!

I actually looked at this as an option before splurging on the Deuce - the lack of availability of purple snow stakes swung it for me. ;)

If you've got to have purple you've got have purple.
My new bike looks purple in some lights. I toyed with naming it Prince but it is really Midnight Blue and I prefer Wilson Pickett's discography.
