I was just going to pick up a microwave curry but I'm half inclined to do gammon and eggs with mushrooms and sweet potato fries after catching up on this thread.

I'm pleased to confirm that the Pike was very nice, both as traditional fish and chips and baked in butter with green peppers and a little bit of onion.

Coincidentally Mrs N & I encountered pike somewhere on a fishmongerish slab last week & suspected that it might need a good reputation before we'd try it. I'm not an angler - far too impatient - so am very ignorant of the culinary virtues of most of our freshwater ("coarse") fish.

I am encouraged to discover more.

I have only ever had pike when it had been caught by my cycling companion somewhere in the far north of Sweden...

Pasta with Bolognese sauce seasoned with fresh herbs from our lounge.

I will leave herb selection to David and expect a surprise...

Our evening meal was bread & cheeses (British, of course).

Luncheon was more enterprising. I baked a couple of pheasant breasts, ready wrapped in streaky bacon, gathered from the local market on Friday. One huge baked Niclola potato & a similarly huge roasted parsnip (suitably cut, well soaked in olive oil with chopped fresh herbs from the garden) served 2 of us with the aid of a bunch of young spinach that was so unlike the supermarket stuff that I need to ask the grower why it was so good. Sauce was a golden roux gravy with a bit of sweetish white wine & some undrinkably acid, cheap (£1-75/bottle!) red wine.

I'll have leftovers tomorrow ;D .

We had pheasant tonight as well, the aftermath of a coming together of the pheasant and someone else's car.
The last brace that we acquired had fallen of the back of the shooting party's lorry (literally).

Torn between steak, mushrooms and asparagus or scones with clotted cream and jam.

Everyone at work said just have both but methinks that might be a smidge greedy.

Pancakes. Savoury ones, stuffed with mince and tomatoes and covered in cheese sauce, then sweet, one with raspberry vinegar and sugar, and then one with golden syrup.
I know we're a day late but we were eating in the pub last night. It's our 'fee' for running the quiz there.

I am stewing some beef. As Sainsbury's have supplied me with more carrot and orange than requested1, some will go into the stew.
Partner thinks it weird I am putting oranges in the stew.
I see no reason why not.
I think he has no sense of adventure.

1) 0.5kg carrots ordered, 1.4kg supplied & unsolicited family pack of 12 oranges.

To say curry sounds mediocre.  But it's my birthday and Mrs B is cooking up a storm of a curry in the kitchen.
Luckily, she needs to use up 4½ days leave this week or lose it at the end of march.
She may work, ahem, from home for the remaining half day.  ;)
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

BBQ chicken, one spicy, one garlic and lemon.

Extra chorizo on the side, salad and veg.

I can't wait...

Pork and Cider casserole, with boiled new potatoes (also bacon, onion, mushrooms, celery, garlic, cream, mustard and fresh parsley).

It's still cooking, so here it is before it went into the oven!

Actually, it is rocket science.

Scrambled eggs with rainbow chard, spring onions, and Tuscan ham. Yoghurt and banana to follow.
