Well, I have had a Serge Gainsbourg album.  One of the tracks is a Reggae Version of the Marseillaise.
The Beatles ended "All you need is Love" avec un bit of Marseillaise

Yup, that's the link. The Gainsbourg track is Aux Armes Et Caetera, from the album of the same name. It was considered so outrageous at the time that Gainsbourg received death threats. Totally brilliant.

The Thunderclap Newman track is Something In The Air, which is apparently based on La Marseillaise. I would never have recognised it as such if I hadn't been told.

Divine Comedy included a snippet on the brilliant song Frog Princess, and Einsturzende Neubaten used a bit of All You Need Is Love in one of their tracks.

Oh dear, I really shouldn't have replied 'cos I really, really don't have time to think up, post and then moderate a question.

The next question will be from who ever posts one first. Don't all post one.  Once one is up, that's it.

Sorry about that.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

The first ones that come to mind are Walk On By and 96 Tears. But I expect they did others that I can't remember right now.

Oops! Sorry, not used to being on this board & forgot I'd set the question.

Anyway, you've got 3 out of the 4 between you.

Not sure what you mean by compilation, though...

Not a Stranglers track...

Wot a plonker I am.  I knew it was the Clash when I typed it.  Perhaps I need to go home.

Good track it is, though :)

The missing track is from the 60s, I believe & not at all Strangleresque...

Is it a Creamy song?

No, it's a summery song... Joe Cocker also covered it, but that doesn't narrow it down much ;)

I'll kick off again, then.
