A quite remarkable musician. "Jeff Beck has notes on his guitar that no one else has" - Ritchie Blackmore

Goodbye Pork Pie Hat - live at Ronnie Scotts with Tal Wilkenfeld on bass.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Seems he had quite a career, in and out of numerous bands.

My good friend Doc recommended that exact same link to me this morning.  I have not had chance to watch yet but I have found that the whole gig is available as an album on Spotify, so that will be on this weekend's playlist while I am decorating

I'm pretty sure I've seen some of that performance before. He was a truly unique musician.

There's a pretty astonishing version of "A Day In The Life" on that gig.  Could have done with the bass being a little further up in the mix, though.  What an extraordinary musician Jeff Beck was - it's more than the guitar.  RIP.

Usually, when I see a guitarist constantly pissing about with the tone controls, the volume controls, the pickup selector switch, the tremelo vibrato bar.... I'll be (internally) shouting "leave it the fuck alone!". But not with Jeff Beck. He was never "pissing about" with them. Everything was considering and crafted into a unique tone. If ever the saying "It's all in the fingers" applied to anyone, it was Jeff.

Also, most of his peers got good in the 60s and then never changed. He completely changed his style over time and was still making great music...

RIP.

As is a performance of 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers'.......featuring a cracking solo by Tal Wilkenfeld...boy, she's a terrific talent, as he acknowledges!

I am trying to remember the name of a comedy series (The Rock Squad?) which featured a spoof band, where the guitarist had a motorcycle twist grip on his axe. In the last episode, as they were pretending to play, Mr Beck made a guest appearance.

Pace Flatus, I initially assumed it was Nigel 'Eleven' Tufnel...

I hope I'm not the only one on this forum who, initially not being aware of the film's release, saw it late one night on C4 and sat there thinking [for a short period...honestly!]:
'WTF, who the hell are this bunch of tossers, I've never heard of them'?

Such a brilliant film.

Did JB ever voice anything in reference to that character?

Yes, he loved them. I think he recorded some stuff with them IIRC

First saw Beck in 1980. Jaw dropping esp his interplay with drummer Simon Phillips. Saw him later with Terry Bozzio on drums who attacked his drums. That's what it looked like. Tremendous players in the bands he had. Always seemed to favour women on bass. But the mastery of the gtr was a joy to watch. So influential from the Yardbirds all the way through to his last tour
