IF things had gone to plan this would be ride number 4.  Thaks to SLOTH this will be ride #2.  This also means that I'm 4 points behind my target for the year.  :(

There is a psychopath by the A33 that goes pretty drectly to the start.  It is not pleasant tho.

Does Phils route goes via Green Park? Very convenient. No traffic on a weekend, parallel bike path when you do hit the A33 . . .

I'll be missing it. Domestic requirements call . . .

Any reason not to use the B3033 instead of the A33?

No, but you will still have to grapple with the A33/M4 interchange unless you know the way through Green Park.

My route to ChrisS goes out of Reading on the Burghfield Road - a little further but a reasonable route, I think.

I have had other requests for "my" route out of Reading.  It may not be the best way (and certainly is not the shortest) but it is reasonably pleasant and not to much traffic.  To be honest, the A33/M4 interchange shouldn't be too much problem at that time on a Saturday morning

Out of station by main entrance.
L and immediately 2nd exit RBT (ignoring bus layby)
along Station Road (Malmaison Hotel on L)
SA at Traffic lights into pedestrianised Q Victoria St
R @ T (opp John Lewis) still pedestrianised
SA at mini RBT onto proper road (Oxford Road)
After blue railway bridge, 1st L Western Elms Avenue
at top (that is a clue to the topography!) of W Elms, R@T, imm L (Southcote Road)
at end of Southcote Rd dismount and cross A4 Bath Road
1st exit RBT (Southcote Lane)
SA a couple of RBts to
L @ T (maybe traffic lights) Burghfield Road
over river and canal (traffic lights)
Imm after M4 bridge, L
after c 1 km R sp Grazeley (you are on final part of KVR route now)
R @ T, and 1st R into Arrivee

The route can be reversed for the return to Reading (without the need to dismount to cross Bath Road!) without "one way" problems.

Yes - I shall be bimbling down from the M4 Westbound Travelodge in the morning, it's the evening I'll be heading into town to catch a train, so your route looks just fine. Many Thanks  :).

Ah, yes - now I look at your post again it does indeed say "route from the arrivee to Reading central station".

On Friday evening, if you replace "imm after M4 bridge, L" with "soon after M4 bridge, R" and you will soon come to the back entrance to the service area.

With nice weather this could be a fast one. Anyone fancy an 8 hour target?

Definitely, count me in.

Edit.  How long do you expect the second 100km to take?

I'll be happy with anything under 11 hours tbh.

Sounds like you've got yourself back into shape pretty sharpish Tiger :)

From what I can remember [and this undoubtedly would be a reflection of my level of fitness at the time] I found the last 50km really a bit tough when I did it in 2007.

I'll be on the 100km. Much more civilised. Besides, I don't have any decent lights on the bike I'll be riding.

Actually I was hoping to scare Bianchi with the spectre of people faster than him (not sure if he is riding tho).  Personally I will be aiming to complete (and beat Richforrest on his flashy bike). I have a record of 3/4 DNF so far this season. I am however fitting a race tyre in case I suddenly get very fit in the next 3 days.

100? Surely a typo.

Anyway.  Forecast is staying good.  10degC and light (7mph) SW'erlies (possibility of a bit of a push home, always nice)

Has anyone got a reliable .gpx file for the routesheet sorted yet?
