Sportive as a Permanent?
« on: 04 March, 2009, 03:56:02 pm »
I've entered the 105 mile Devil Ride on 12th July 2009. Could this be used as an audax permanent event at all?
Iawn, cont? It's a 67.4" by the way.

If you can control on the way round, yes
But I think that is unlikely

You'd struggle for a controls, especially at the far point (between 40 and 50 miles) although, if a timestamped digital photo with place name is good enough for proof of passage for Audaxes, the the phone box 100m up the road from that point is pretty recognisable for anyone who's done the Elenith.

Or

Why not just ride the route.  Not everything has to be accredited.

I would say no; 105 miles even if there were convenient cashpoints in hedges at the control points will not get you any AUK points; and a DIY will not get you any AAA's

You could try stretching it out to 200km which you probably will by the time you find a proper control near any of the checkpoints.

and a pedant might say that you've entered the sportive so can't enter an Audax on the same day as well...
