Lost one of these on a ride yesterday. :(

[it was in a small pouch, which I didn't properly secure in my back pocket]

Did you find the jumbo that needed sponging?

Haha, yes Me.
Now you have a jumbo, it can help you wash your car.

Was out on Olive, and just round t'corner from me 'ouse, there was this skip in someones gardin.  In t'skip was some old pine doors what had bin stripped, and did look nice. Now I needs a door I does, for No1 daugthers flat in That Leyton, so I knocks on the door of this big 'ouse, and I asks the chap if I may 'elp meeself to contents of skip.  'Aye, thats fine lad, help theeself''  says a chap whats 'alf me age.  So whizzes 'ome, and armed wiv the sizes of thee doors I needs, comes back with the Volvo.........get the picture.. ;).     Alas the great God Trebus was not wiv me that day, as thee doors was too schmall, BUT one was schpot on! So I drags it out and turns it over I does, and  bugga, top 'alf of door near thee 'inge is all split aways, and missing ,where some oik 'ad levered it oft with a crowbar.  Never minds, and not wishing to gone 'ome with empty 'ands, I 'recovered a dozen unused 'Eternit' types artificial roof slates, and thee Gothic mirror what you do see above., ‘tis cast iron, it is. I found a roadkill step ladder on yesterday's ride, but it was pissing down with rain so I didn't feel like stopping for a photo.

ETA: Still there today.

Fortunately I already have an identical (but cleaner) step ladder at home.

Perfectly good vaper, just needed a couple of small screws to repair it.

(I have replaced the mouthpiece, that would be skanky)

Was out on Olive 2 days after my Pfizer stick, and I saw these. As I stopped to take a pic , my stomach rumbled aggressively... :o, and my phone battery died , and I was uncertain I had taken a snap. I had planned for vehicular (Volvo) retrieval later that day. It had been out all night, and the plan was to paint a more subtle colour, and then flog it on ETSY.  But my tumleyboo  was telling me I needed to be elsewhere, and I JUST made it home  ::-). Gosh that was VERY close. Anyway , rest of the day was taken up with frequent visits, a reaction to the wonder drug no doubt.  Rode out next day feeling fine, and t'was gone. :-[

Spied this little lot, none of which worked, but chargers were present. But most were full of water, so I left them

- not exactly 'found this on a ride today and thought I'd take it home' - but "what is it?"
It's about a mile from the sea on the Newport Levels , so, clue there ?
I think it's been on a harbour wall ...

A winch, or at least a sheave for running a rope around. Nautical kit so there must have been boats close by at some time.

Is it anywhere near a railway (or former railway)? It was not unusual for winches and capstans to be used for shunting in the absence of a locomotive (or horse!)

''I have a dream!''  or rather I had a dream. Ever since I dreamt of the death of a very close friend of my lovely, (and she actually died the night I saw her in my dream....its a long story....I see things ...ok), I tell my lovely of my dreams, in case they are important. Anyway t'other day I dreamt, and subsequently reported, that whilst out walking in my red hiking jacket, that I found a £50 note.
Went out for a ride today , only 33km , but time was short ( I overslept), and found nowt...not a sausage....
Then after a spot of lunch we went for a walk. I was wearing my red jacket, but took it off and put in my rucksack as it was.very warm. BUT there in the bushes.... Not £50 but close.

Meanwhile, I got this marvellous free wood screw:

Tyre was a write-off (it took a chunk out of the sidewall, too).  Fortunately the rim is sufficiently corroded that I was going to replace it in the spring anyway.

Unlikely to be railway related then, but it was worth asking. I agree that it is more likely to be maritime related than railway.
