Rail Replacement Bus

Our local underground service on Merseyside usually takes bikes without any problem.      However they are now doing upgrade work on the Wirral line, so anyone who wants to get to the other side of the river has to take a bus.    I'm pleased to see that cyclists are specially catered for with a Bike Bus,  a standard single decker with a reduced number of seats and with bike racks bolted to the floor

Catering for cyclists during bustitution?  I thought this was the sort of un-BRITISH behaviour that brexit was supposed to put a stop to.

I thought this was going to be a question along the lines of "Can I take my bike on this particular rail replacement bus?" I'd deliberately refrained from looking at it before in order not to have the depressing task of saying "Andrew, don't be so daft." But as it is, Andrew is not daft and more surprisingly neither is Mersey Rail.

Andrew's Rail Replacement Bus is better than Manchester's Metrolink, where you still can't take a bike on board.

Excellent thing!  Does anyone (Andrew?) know if they're being forced to do this out of contractual obligation or if it's a commercial decision? If the latter, can they please take over every railway in Britain?

A couple of months ago I saw a bloke wheel his bike on the Metrolink at Prestwich and get off at Victoria. I thought, nice one. Must have just chanced it.
