There is a very persistent song thrush which was at it last night and again at about 4am. He is still at it.

I have had s cup of Torslanda's tea. It was very good. I am now close to being human, fagvo, obv.

Even with a shortcut the wind and hill weary peloton has only just arrived for lunch.

Don't tell them that we're riding into the wind from here ...

I think that we've borked Apollo into the bargain.   Thankfully we have International Rescue to hand.

I have just woken to the sound of the breakfast bell.

The weather appears to be better than yesterday and the strains of voices from the mess tent can be heard along with the melodic dawn snorus from all sides!

Time to crawl from the bag methinks.

Home, and knackered. I picked up a thorn, attached to about 18" of twig, whilst cycling along the canal towpath. I managed to get to Leamington Spa station before it needed attention and I pumped the tyre up at Marylebone. It remained inflated enough for me to cycle home.

In Marylebone there was a chance meeting:

Thorn Rave Sport Tours pass in mid-afternoon. Brooks saddle, Carrdice... Introducing James Champ, a man of impeccable taste in fine bicycles.

Well, that was great fun.  I'm afraid that we didn't do any actual cycling, but did offer young Iris a warm bed in the caravan, which she much appreciated.

I've just been looking at the Silverdale site, mooted to be the location for the autumn meet.  VERY posh!  Plus it would be rude not to do at least a bit of fishing in Morecambe or Heysham.

Thank you for organising once again PB, great week end, if a tad cool this year. Wonderful ride route on Saturday and well worth exploring further in future. I have only realised today that we rode through the Edge Hill battle site on the way to Kineton. Kajsa was amazing. John (Tors) excelled himself once again by spoiling us with great cooking, pavillion shelters, entrees, bacon butties at midnight, breakfast and other goodies. Most grateful to him.

Did a date ever get decided for that one?

Good company all round especially given I was offTrike and hanging about! Excellently organised and good to see all of you and meet Kajsa in person at last - I really enjoyed her talk.

That was a great weekend, even though we didn't bring bikes!

It was lovely seeing everyone. Iris hugely appreciated the warm bed in the caravan.  22 - 24 September for Silverdale sounds ace - if I put it in the diary now we might stand a chance of joining in with bikes this time...

Good weekend, despite the cold weather. Thanks for organising, PB, & Torslanda for fine dining & shelter - excellent.

Back home by much the same route, so no deviations & fewer map reading stops; I even skirted Rugby correctly. Seemed more uphill on the way back - 4 or 5 hills managed in rock bottom gear - but sunny nearly all the way, a nice temp for riding & only slightly headwindy. Great countryside & views. 75 miles on a bowl of granola, a sandwich & three fig rolls; I think my digestion gives up due to lack of blood supply.
