Hard to believe he was 91.

Blimey, I didn't know he was still around.

We watched 'All creatures great and small' obsessively when I was a kid (and read the books). A link back to my Dad's childhood. He was great in that.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. He was so good in ACGaS, and the Harry Potters.

He was.  That's why I couldn't believe his age.

Me too.

I have never watched or read anything to do with Harry Potter so I’m afraid I was surprised that he had been extant. Until now. RIP.

It puzzled me that the headlines I saw referred to him as a "Harry Potter actor". He had been in loads of stuff, probably most prestigiously as Churchill in something or other. I had no idea he had been in the Harry Potter stuff.

Clearly it is not the done thing to watch Harry Potter!  Just as well I have never watched it*; I only know about it from friend of my great aunt who has since passed away.  Or maybe I dreamt it..

And who is this Thomas Hardy anyway?

* a possible furphy..

When Gielgud died Simon Bates announced that "Arthur star John Gielgud has passed away".

My brother-in-law posted the following on facebook.

Must seem a strange tribute to Robert Hardy but on hearing of his death I wanted to remember not only his acting skills but also Robert Hardy, historian and longbow archer. So when I take my place on the shooting line on Saturday I will shoot my first six arrows in memory of a man who has taught many archers about the history of their sport, leaving behind him a wealth of research and knowledge..

I had forgotten about his work on archery. He was heavily involved in work on the bows retrieved from the Mary Rose if I remember correctly.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.
