Pretty much.

One of my old housemates was very into Floyd, never really grabbed me.  He's a good showman though and clearly a guitar virtuoso.

I was, incidentally listening to Mark Knopfler this morning, equally talented, but I find him much easier on the ear.

I've been a big PF fan in the past, and I'll have a listen to Gilmour now and then. He's got a very distinctive guitar sound.

But...its not really going anywhere new, nor has it for about 3 decades.

I bought 'On an island' a few years ago as a track led me to believe it would be worth it.

It wasn’t.
It is simpler than it looks.

There's a John Martyn live DVD from 1990 with Gilmour on it, that's worth having.
