This is how New York has been transformed by a traffic commissioner with real vision and a Mayor who has the courage and popular support to back her:

Wouldn't it be wornderful if this was the pattern we see for all of those horrendous gyratories and dual carriageways in all but name.

Something to aspire to indeed - but NY does have the advantage of being built on a grid design which makes many of the measures mentioned mcuh earier to implement...
