Author Topic: Fitting a Stronglight Compact double to my S6L .... what length Bottom bracket?  (Read 1638 times)

Dears

I think I'm narrowing in on using my B for my Outer Hebrides tour in a few weeks time.
The major lumpy bits are on Harris and this makes a good excuse to add a Stronglight Compact Double 50/34 instead of my 44T.  I miss the 50T and the 34 will help me up the steep bits when loaded.

Question is ... I guess I need to replace the BB or get spacers to move it out slightly.  What's the deal here?  What do I need to get .... time is running out!!!!!

what chainline is recommended for each of the chainsets?
There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Or, put it another way, what length BB do you currently have? Spa say the Stronglight compact double takes a 107mm long BB.

Dunno Tim .... but the Compact fits perfectly onto the existing BB ... Hooray!

FWIW, 113mm works for an XD2 double.

Whatever Spa say will be largely meaningless, as the limiting factor is what fouls during the fold.
