Dry Roast Peanut Butter
« on: 24 October, 2011, 07:12:16 pm »
This is what happens when you talk to people on the internet and make a point that needs proving:

Take a couple of nice big bags of dry roasties and a food processor.

Blitz for about 5 minutes, until you have a greasy floury dough texture.

While the processor is running, drizzle in a little oil.  The dough with ball up almost immediately into the glorp we all love.

So yeah.  It's a thing.  And it's intensely savoury!
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Its intensely savoury because of the MSG in dry roast peanuts. You could get a similar effect from Marmite, soy sauce or MSG...

Dry roasted peanut butter with soy sauce! Now there's an idea. If only I had a food processor.
How long might it take with a wooden spoon, mixing bowl and strip of caffeine pills?

You would not be able to make peanut butter with a wooden spoon; suggest mortar & pestle or hammer...

You obviously haven't seen the North Bucks Road Club wooden spoon awarded to the stirer of the year.
It stands at about 3 feet tall and weighs a fair bit. A few good wallops with that wooden spoon and I reckon peanuts would soon turn to paste. :D

Not taken with the soy sauce idea, but I fancy peanut butter with a bit of chilli. And garlic. Possibly mustard seeds and ground coriander, too. I might experiment.

So yeah.

Oh you dirty, dirty boy.

I am *so* going to have to try that, dammit...  :D

Helly's not wrong, it's over the top because of the metric fuckton of MSG.

Most importantly, it's an indicator of how easy it is to make any nut butter.  Almond butter?  Pistachio butter?   :o
