PGTips and I have been watching, and thoroughly enjoying Minder.

He's never seen it before, and I haven't seen it for many years. George Cole is just magnificent, supported by some good scripts.

(much better than The Professionals)

I thought you meant the current series of remakes. Similar plot but different actors. Shane Richey as "Arthur" is a pale imitation IMO.

I refuse to have anything to do with the so-called "Minder" remake.  I didn't even buy the post-Dennis Waterman series on DVD (though my B-i-L did, the sell-out).

Well, having loved the original series, I decided to give the remake a spin.

It's carefully made clear that this is not a 'remake' as such - Archie is Arthur's nephew and the series is effectively "Minder: The Next Generation".  Rather good in my opinion, although without the quaint charm of the original.

I also gave it a chance when the 1st episode was shown.  Pre publicity had stressed that it really wasn't a remake but a later generation with a similar life style.  I wasn't convinced but watched the 2nd.  Now sure it's not for me but at least I made a decison based on personal knowledge.

Quite. And the 'Sweeney' remake is getting similarly short shrift from me.

A very young Ray Winstone has been in the last few episodes, along with a similarly youthful looking Art Malik.

I loved the original Minder, as a kid. In fact, I vividly remember some of the episodes.

I've tried the new Minder but I really don't get it.

Youth Number 2 was in an ep of The Sweeney I watched recently, played by an unrecognisably youthful "Raymond" Winstone.

My friend Sir Hugh of Hugh hates him, trivia fans.

Gosh, was young Mr Winstone playing an *angry* character by any chance (I still remember his Will "I'm very angry" Scarlet from Robin of Sherwood)?
