GN: I had an amazon delivery today
BN: Some items in the 'delivered 'order were missing.  Surprisingly Amazon does not have a system response for this problem.

Bad news: I need to pay the plumber the thick end of £250 for replacing our dead shower.
Good: HMRC says they owe me a refund for most of that.
(I have no idea how, their explanation is just a pile of numbers but never mind).
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Reminds me:

Good news: HMRC sent me a cheque for £92 for overpayment last year.
Bad news: I owe HMRC £972 for last year.

I have no idea either (seems I was on an emergency tax code when I started this job, or it might have been the annual bonus, but it's taxes, so c'est la vie).

GN. We are on a plane due to fly from São Paulo to LHR.
BN.  There was a red light so we returned to the stand and the engineer checked everything
GN. We were cleared to fly.
BN. 13 passengers were scared and refused to fly. So we returned to the stand a second time.

Now we wait to hear if the crew have enough flight time!
We need more fuel having run the engines for 2 hours on the ground.
Hopefully we get more champagne!

GN: We have a glut of sweet, rosy, ripe Bramley apples.
GN2: I found the tuits to chop, nuke and mash these for Future use yesterday.

BN: I put my left ring finger in the path of the chopping knife, which I drove down HARD.

GN: Bugger was so blunt there's hardly a mark on my finger from the knife today.

It can be sharpened. I have an old one for use in the garden - the steel is crap if used on Real Stuffs. I don't sharpen the one in the kitchen because anticoagulant and blood.

Speaking of which, the other week at Scouts I got one of my chums to come along and talk about various things connected with the First World War. He brought along his Rifle, Short, Magazine, Lee Enfield.

At the end of the evening I set the little blighters a question: "Go and find a poem that talks about piling swivels, which in this case he did have"

Ever eager to win a bar of chocolate, some of them managed it.  Hurrah.

BN: I opened a bottle of beer and a huge fountain of beer shot out of the neck.
GN: It all landed in a foil pie tray I had for dinner so no mess.

BN.  As always, our numbers didn't come up in the Llandysul Lotto draw last week.

GN. I've just found last week's envelopes with our usual numbers and £1 coins in.  I'd forgotten to hand them in.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

GN: Evri delivered my parcel at 14.07 today.
BN: Evri sent out email, timestamped 13.32, informing me delivery would be between 13.00 & 15.00.
GN: Delivery was well within time window.
BN: I did not read email as we were eating. D was disturbed at a time when He Must Not Be Disturbed. There was but 35 minutes between email and parcel delivery. I had been watching tracking like a hawk at times I had the laptop out but still missed the vital email..

BN - I've been a bit ill over Christmas. In fact and I realise how lucky this makes me but probably the first proper illness in 14 years. I had to miss my youngest daughters birthday treats and have been in bed around 8pm for nearly a week. Isn't covid as tested and has hit me far more then covid did

GN - because of the above I have stopped, rested, watched some crap TV and read loads which usually I feel guilty about as so much to do which there still is but I have actually had to say to myself you need rest so while the gardens not been sorted as had planned over Christmas and the kitchens more of a mess then usual I have actually stopped and rested.
