Yet another reason to hate hotdesking: I spent ages the other week storing a list of contacts in my profile on the deskphone (I don't have to hotdesk - my dodgy hip has got me a fixed desk). Took annual leave Thursday & Friday last week, during which a colleague used my desk and logged into the phone with her number. Now all the contacts have been deleted.  >:( >:( >:(
Today none of the phones are working at all. (This is only a grumble rather than a rant because I have a lot to do today and I don't need phone calls interrupting).

And?

So I give you a jiffy-bag and ask you to deliver it from anywhere in the UK to anywhere else in the UK, using nothing but the £2.60 I give you.

Reckon you could do it?

And the price for doing the same across Europe (for a similar journey, say 600km)?

87 pence (if a personal letter is enclosed).  http://www.seajays.org.uk/postage/index.cfm

(Nobody checks that a letter is really enclosed, by the way).

How did you determine that price? I can't find anything even remotely close to that on that site.

You can on http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder

87p for a letter anywhere within Europe, as long at it doesn't weigh more than 20 grams. Then it goes up in stages, e.g. £1.28 up to 30g.

Small packets are £2.70 up to 100g, then in stages.

But that is not a parcel with the 26mm minimum width. How much does it cost to send a small packet in any other European country?

But that is not a parcel with the 26mm minimum width.

For Royal Mail Airmail, the parcel counts as a Letter if it CONTAINS a personal letter.  That's what the RM rules say and that's the price I've paid countless times with never a complaint from the recipient that the postal services demanded more money.  The "Letter", "Large Letter" and "Packet" sizes only apply to posting within the UK.  There is no size restriction for Airmail Letters (up to the size limit for Airmail in general).

It's 87p for up to 20g to Europe and 10g for rest of world, but currently £2.20 from one part of London to another part of London if it's more than 25mm thick.

Third flood warning in 4 weeks. Third Audax cancelled.

We're well above flood risk height but I feel for those who've just finished cleaning up from last week!  Could be working from home Monday.
Enough rain now.

I'm sure you will now demonstrate a 26mm thick parcel that weighs under 20g?

Small magnets in foam in a paper envelope.  (Although most of my despatches are thinner than that).  Even a 40g 26mm parcel is cheaper to post to New Zealand than it is from Bounds Green to Wood Green.  Grumble.

To all intents and purposes.
An inch is 25.4mm.

Couldn't you get your purchaser to erect a big iron pole on their house, and then throw the magnets really hard in the right direction?

Just helpin', like.

Colleague, please stop snorting semi-liquid snot back up your nose, you sound like a hippo vomiting hippo, only in reverse.

Apart from sounding disgusting, it really isn't good for your health. Your body wants to get rid of the stuff, go blow it out (preferably in a different room).

GAMMA2 fell over on Sunday, and a call was logged.  Your response time is six hours, which means your engineer should have been sitting on the doorstep at 08:00 yesterday.  Someone finally showed up at 15:50 and clearly had no clue what an Alphaserver is.

Your are a pack of useless workshy twats.

My water bill was about £100 less than fboab's.
Water bill seems to have increased faster than inflation.
