It's only 4 days and 8 hours until bobb gets here!

After lunch there is a distinct possibility that m'boy and I are going for a bike ride with my li'l sis and her FWMBAB.  Depending on if the rain stops....

I'm out for a sunny ride with Wowbagger. We're awaiting our pub lunch. It was a struggle to get up and out, but I'm very glad I did!

A week from now bobb will be here.

I really like this post.
It doesn't say, "We're going to do this and this and this and it will be great", or "Bob is this and this and this", because those are things don't need to be said - all that needs to be said is that in a week, Bobb will be here, and all will be well.
Lovely  :)

EldestCub has gone gardencamping round at a mate's house tonight.  This made him very very happy.

Perhaps we need a Bobb's ETA thread as a separate item

The Dundee Railway Heritage Trail leaflet just got a runner up in the public sector design awards. Well done Su the designer who took my scrawlings and turned them into something excellent. Creative Exchange Awards | The Creative Exchange (referred to as 'Railway Map')

SmallestCub just told me the "knock knock" Doctor Who joke.

I think that's the first time he's deliberately told a joke, and got to the punchline, without forgetting a bit (and understanding-ish why it's funny) :)

I'm told I don't have far to travel between station and shop, so I should be OK.

I'm trying very hard not to get too excited.  But taking into account that I won't need to cut any corners when speccing this bike, it's not easy!  I'm expending great effort to not spend my working hours online looking at a range of shiny things for the tourer.

This afternoon, Mrs. Wow had her first bike ride since it happened. Only about 4 miles, but it involved Waitrose and 4 very large panniers of shopping on the tandem, total weight about 60lb I think. This is important because it's the first time we've tried Carradice Super C rear panniers on the front, and it worked OK. Handles like a dream.

We are off tomorrow for a two-night camping trip in Suffolk with Woolly & Peli - a bit of unfinished business, you might say! The bigger panniers are an experiment to see how much extra we can fit in for touring purposes.

For touring on the tandem we use Ortlieb Back Roller Pluses on the back and front, works OK and Vernon says handling is fine.

How do they fix?

Alturas won't fit on a Thorn industrial-strength low-rider front rack because the bolts are "proud" of the support bar. That's why the Carradice are on the front.

Good to hear that Jan has recovered.
