My youngest, 11 years old, daughter is coming home from hospital today after being ambulance in on Sunday afternoon with a severe asthma attack/exacerbation. Triggered, we believe, by a nasty viral infection and requiring significant IV drug administration as the nebuliser failed - given her peak flow had fallen to 60, from c.200, that's not really a surprise.
Needless to say, we're very very grateful to have her back.
The only amusing moment was her suggestion on Monday night that she'd run away from the hospital - I might have pointed out that if she could run they'd let her go. At that point, quote apart from a canula in each arm and two drip stands, she also had constant heart and blood oxygen monitoring, and couldn't breathe well enough to walk to the loo.
