Lurghi over Christmas seems to have left me with occasional spells of lightheadedness/dizziness. Also, right eye seems drier and more prone to lack of focus than normal. I've taken the sudafed and beconase to no great effect, and had my ears de-gunged. Back to the Drs I go. It's worse if I exercise as well, meaning I've been avoiding the bike and the gym. :(
Also, bench pressing on the couple of times I did go to the gym this year has caused the return of costochronitis (or something similar). :(

I have had acute sinusitis since 17th January. On the third round of antibiotics Clarithromycin. NExt step is "hot" ENT referral (2 weeks to be seen) cos their "usual" waiting list is 2 years long.

GPs have been absolutely brilliant - it feels like each one of them is working with me to 'do our best' with my damaged anatomy and an unusually persistent-even-for-me infection.

I would like the vertigo to fuck the fuck off. Probably triggered by the infection (my middle ear feels wrong). today I've had tremors and issues with my vision where I could not read certain text on the work system (an urgent and complicated issue) so I had to copy paste it out into Word, use Atkinson Hyperlegible (visual impairment font), green background AND my blue lenses. It seems that clarithromycin has dizzness as a common side effect and visual issues and tremors as uncommon ones.

I am due an eye test, but don't want to get the test till my sinuses are behaving as I suspect they'll affect the outcome.

I really hope you feel better soon barakta.
Just to update my latest status, I have been diagnosed with asthma and have been given a brown inhaler which I take 1 in the morning and 1in the evening. I have sinus issues although they seem to be less severe and I am no longer wheezing at night so I call that a win  :)

Cautious optimism. Finished Clarithromycin at midnight last night... Still not 100% but it can take a few weeks for full improvement. I do at least not have the "feel worse on last 2 days" like I did with penicillin.

Hope the brown inhaler helps Cycleman and that your sinuses improve - do you get hayfever?

I've had runny sinuses for years but have never been able to find any matches with pollen or known alligens .. I wonder if there might be a link to air pollution as I am on the east end of slough and the prevailing wind is from the west 🤔

Sinuses are awful things. What are they actually for, apart from getting infected, giving you a chronic headache and snotting all over your face?

Reduce the weight of your face as they are air-filled
Keep inside of nose moist, to humidify inspired air
Improving the quality of vocal output is secondary, I suppose.

I fortunately get little grief from my sinuses so might be biased!

A long piece on the use (abuse?) of semaglutides intended to treat diabetes for weight loss instead.

I think it's written in a world where people aspire to be "social X-rays" to quote Tom Wolfe.      I note that some of them are now having plastic surgery to tighten up the folds & wrinkles caused by their sudden weight loss.

AIUI Ozempic for weight loss is Wegovy for diabetes slightly reformulated and highly remarketed, so it's in effect already an officially promoted abuse, IYSWIM, of a drug made for something else. But it wanted me to start a subscription – "You've reached your monthly article limit" – so I haven't actually read the article.

“The appeal of an effortless, near-instant fix proved irresistible to many”

What that woman is doing does not sound effortless and near instant.  It just describes someone who has a poor relationship with food and body image; who then digs the hole deeper.

I was feeling surprisingly good Fri-Sun. Finished clarithromycin on Friday night.

Today I feel like shit.

Can't tell if this is a migraine or the sinuses rebounding with fail. Not impressed at all!

Oh no.  Another friend had a bad case of Sinusitis recently. He said he felt like he’d been repeatedly punched in the face.  Sounds horrible.

Yeah, I have that post-punch feeling. It has been easing off this week but seems to be back. Will give it a day or two to see if this is just a bad day and go back to GP if unsure.

I had such a vicious attack of cramp in my right calf last night that I am limping today. It feels a bit like my torn calf muscle of about 7 years ago, but not so bad and in the other leg.

I've had that way too often. Screaming pain. But not for a year or so. If I knew what had changed, I would tell you, though there's no saying that your cause would be the same.

I cycled past that roundabout a week or so ago - I thought of you at the time. Hope your leg improves.

Speaking of legs: in 2006 I did the UAF version of PBP, and on a supposed recovery ride a week later I managed to tear my left quad.  It rarely bothered me even on the 1000k+ rides I did since, but in the last couple of years a ride in cold weather is sure to bring back the pain.  I noticed last night that while the right quad is smooth top to knee, the left one feels like a hilly landscape.  Not a good feeling, that.  Doc told me years ago that it might smooth out at bit with time, but the ends will never reunite.

Take it easy, Wow.

The physio says I can go in a swimming pool "when the scar is pink and shiny". No outdoor swimming till April.
