Train companies looking to reduce services, to avoid runing empty trains.

Is it just me, or isn't that what they do for most of the day anyway?  Trains are predictably packed at peak times (clue's kind of in the name) but less so the rest of the time.  I seem to remember a certain Mr J C suggesting renationalisation and getting shot down by the electorate

Well, they have to run services, and unless they want two sets of trains, the big ones from rush hours are used.
It is simpler than it looks.

A few weeks of nobody travelling anywhere and the train companies will  be asking to terminate their franchises early.

I think the ginger one from Girls Aloud dressed as a nightmarish anthropomorphic queen bee was the harbinger of the apocalypse.

Also, I discovered today that there is Stranger Things slash fiction.

You know it's serious when even terrorist organisations start issuing travel advisories!  :o

Panic buyers have successfully executed a DDOS attack on my favourite bakery supplies website. Gah! It's bad enough that I can't buy flour in Tesco.

Shame they haven't closed their doors to new customers, as I understand some other online retailers have done.

I'm going to be making risotto with 'pudding rice' as that's the only rice they had in Waitrose. Looks pretty much to be arborio to my eyes. Risotto is basically savoury rice pud anyway.

The self-service coffee machine in Waitrose is now out of order because they're unable to maintain its cleanliness.

I had to walk to the other side of the store to use the other coffee machine as the milk dispenser was broken.

I had a vision/dream the other evening of the Amazonian tribesman who, having inherited the earth, makes his way downriver in search of replacement Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle t-shirts, paddles his dugout across the Atlantic Ocean, lands on our southwestern shores and somehow finds himself in Rugeley, whereupon he marvels at the large Amazon warehouse and is dazzled by the prospect of sundry consumer electronics and unicorn-themed tat...

My wife's ABRSM Grade 7 Flute and my Grade 3 Saxophone exams have been cancelled, sine die.  Just as I'd got to a reasonable level of preparation too.

The Great White Paramedical Services Building (a.k.a. Taj Mahal) next door is shut. People will have to go elsewhere for their melted-chocolate massages (149€).

Our neighbourhood rubble skip still receives the occasional *thunk*. I wish it were otherwise.

That brings to mind the railway bridge scenes from "The Ladykillers", the 1955 version with Alec Guinness.

Surely they could do something like that in a network of studios, one per country? Do they really need the live audience?
