Bye-bye Tabitha
« on: 03 May, 2008, 04:52:41 pm »
Came down to mum's for the weekend, Tabby kept bumping into everything yesterday, she was having trouble even finding her food. Came down this morning and she was walking round in circles. She'd had enough, the poor old sausage. Bye-bye toots.  :'(

She looks good on that photo though.

Sad news, Mrs P.  :(
Commiserations to you and Mr P,  from me and Mrs Eck and our Mia The Cat.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Yeah, t'was only taken last year. We reckon she was at least 19 so she did well really.

I saw a pub cat once that was allegedly 22.  It had a pretty easy life.

My parents cat went similarly.  When they go downhill, it can happen very fast.  Possibly it's better that way than long and drawn out.

I've known a few cats who were well into their third decade, and as you say, they had an easy life.  Mostly they'd wander between their bed, their toilet (aka the flower bed), and lunch.  On the other hand, that's not vastly different from a young healthy cat!

She does look like a smashing cat in that photo.
Actually, it is rocket science.

There's a lovely piece in the Family bit of the Guardian today about the passing of a fine, fat family cat.  Sabrine Durrant makes the point of him being there in the background for the growing-up of her family, kind of a solid ever-presence, and that we can measure our lives by those of the friends we've shared them with.

It brought a tear to my eye.

Sorry to hear this Mrs P.  It's always heartbreaking.

I've just been to see my parents, and their 11 year old Rottweiler Lucy is close to the end as well. It's all she can do to stand up and stagger into the garden. The insurance company (M&S) have been paying for hydrotherapy to try & build her up, but the pain in her foreleg & shoulder seems to be getting worse  :'(

Oh bugger.  Gone but not forgotten, ever, no doubt.
