Idiot.
I presume that is your opinion on the rider rather than a response to me  ;D

The write up says it all for me really.
I had not thought about the 'being unco-operative' aspect before though.
So is two years enough?

Funnily enough, I know the arbitrator in this case.  A very sound man.

It doesn't surprise me one bit. Not a tad, nor an iota.

I've seen 'minor' stuff happen, but not with any independent witnesses who could back me up if reported, so on a hiding to nothing.

Plus I've seen the reaction if stuff is reported (not drugs but cheating in other ways) and the reaction tends to be one of 'shoot the messenger'

It's one of the reasons the offspring became jaded with the sport; the tolerance for various forms of being elastic with rules at all levels

Elastic rules are fine as long as it is elastic in the right way. (Eg. are you really going to prevent someone riding because they have the wrong jersey in an entry level race?)

But taking the p*** to gain a competitive advantage is the wrong sort of elastic.

Oh it was definitely the wrong sort of elastic..

Then someone needed a bit of a kicking.

We run a number of events under quite flexible rules, the aim being to have events that are fun and still competitive and fair for those where the result matters and still end up being a good day out for the rest of the field. (ie a no hoper getting a puncture on lap one may get more than legal assistance in returning to the bunch - they still end up nowhere in the results (because they don't have the legs) but can still take part.

ISTR that WC junior was mostly a TTer?

TT mostly. The odd bit of cyclocross & crits. The most often seen wrong bit of elastic wasn't time trials.

first reaction was that i'd never heard of this idiot, but seeing as he finished 67th in last years east yorkshire classic, a premier calender event, maybe it was worth him risking his life after all ;D

Dan was a rider who was local to me  - he rode some of our club TTs.

Rumours in the club are he took his sponsor's bike back to the shop last week and has put on 20kg since he last rode competitively  :o

I didn't realise that EPO was so affordable as to be within the reach of rank and file club riders, even sponsored ones.

And not just EPO, as he was done for another substance: aromatase inhibitor. And as the second one is something bodybuilders who use steroids take to avoid man-boobs and shrinkage of nads, make of that what you will. I know what it suggests to me.
