i just had a problem with the front thru axle on my Genesis Datum.  The lever to tighten it up snapped off

I looked up the size of thru axle, it was 100mm x 15

I ordered a DT Swiss 100mm x 15

It arrived and it wasn't 100mm x 15, it was too long

I found some documentation saying that MTB 100mm isn't the same as road 100mm(??!?).  Maybe the inside is 100mm but the fork is "thicker"?  I don't have a MTB to compare with

I've ordered another 100mm this time Road specific and we'll see

There should be a spec written on the Axel.

The thread length and pitch varies between forks also fork leg thickness varies too.

Theres another thread somewhere about thru axle sizing.

Possibly a useful link for axle dramas. Ive used them for trailer friendly stuff.

Another axle issue I had and is worth mentioning is welding one into de hole. So I now regularly loosen and wipe the axle clean to avoid future misery.
