I got this pair last night, about 5 minutes apart and pointing in quite different directions.

did anyone who looked at the sunset last night look behind themselves and spotted the moon? Sadly I didn't have a camera with me, and taking snaps of the moon still isn't in my skill set. The moon was dark orange into the red, stunning.

Driving back from the not-very-frozen North to That London yesterday was the first time I'd ever needed to use the sun visor at night.  Fellow volunteer Ina was complaining bitterly about how her phone camera wasn’t good enough to get a decent picture.

The people who live on the near side of Barsalloch Point get wonderful sunsets over the sea in the winter, but as the winter turns to spring, the sun sets further north, and by mid-April it sets behind the heugh. So they won't have seen this last week.

Right on the  promontory, looking down on the point, there are  iron age earthworks known as Barsalloch Fort. There are several advantages to building there - easily defensible and close to the sea for food and transport. But I'm convinced that they settled there because you get good sunsets the whole year round. I'm sure our ancestors enjoyed a good sunset as much as we do.

Wasn't sure if this should be in Panoramas or here. It's a year old.
