Well, that certainly makes Test cricket exciting and interesting.
It is simpler than it looks.

What amazed me was that it's also only the 3rd time in Pakistan ever.

I don't think that is correct, well not according to howstat.com, they are claiming 9 test series played in Pakistan starting in 1961/2.

Yes, I've just looked through the figures on the howstat site!

England have only won 3 times in Pakistan, but 26 times in total against 21 wins for Pakistan and 39 draws.  So it looks as though the home conditions very much favour each team (Pakistan have won over here 12 times if I am counting correctly)

The way Stokes and McCullum have spiced up Test cricket is going to be loads of fun.
It is simpler than it looks.

Yes, hopefully the days when the likes of Boycott and Tavaré spent most of the opening day grinding the bowlers into submission or terminal boredom for about 50 runs are gone.  That never made interesting cricket to watch.

"People don't come here to see me scoring runs.  They come watch me not getting out all day."

As Mr Boycott never actually said.

I recall Gooch's first test Century. He scored (IIRC) 123 and was out when England were on 165. His partners were Boycott and Tavaré.

Is it true that Botham was sent in with instructions to run Boycott out?  Which apparently he succeeded in doing?

Or is that just a myth?

Absolutely classic TMS moment about 0640 this morning, maybe a bit earlier. Aggers and Alex Hartley discussing the modes of transport they'd seen in Pakistan. He was admiring the lane discipline of an Oxen and Zults reprimanded him for coverting someone else's Oxen on TMS

Did you hear the discussion on floppy hats (i.e. sun-hats worn by players, which always fall off as soon as they run for the ball)? Bit more like old-skool disguised smut: comments about admiring another chap's floppy, etc etc ...
