Back for 2021. Connoisseurs will notice some differences - Mike's isn't available. He's nearly finished renovating the old millhouse, it's probably too posh for us now.

But a start in Northallerton means it's pretty close to 100 km, rather than being a bit over-distance, and we can skip the soggy lowland tracks, which is probably a good job in March.

It's selling fast - nearly half full already, so get an entry in if you do want to ride.

amended start date - now Monday 3rd May 2021

I'm probably going to be landed with a massive royalty bill for the Prague Philharmonic's rendition of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (excerpt thereof). Or maybe it was the Augustines.

Anyway - enough of this - enter Deano's ride, readers - it's mentaaaaaaaaaalll.

It clashes with the 3Bs! Probably fair enough from Eano’s perspective mind

Maybe in 2022 - this is very highly recommended

Rejigged the start date - now it's Mayday. Currently I'm not planning on taking amy more entries (I warned you, it sold out fast), but a few folk might not be able to make the rearranged date, so it's possible that I could sneak some more in.

The weather put a few folk off, and I can't really blame them. I had 14 starters in the end, and 13 finishers. He did survive, but seems to have had more of an adventure than riding back would have been.

On the plus side, all the DNSs mean I've got a bit of surplus cash, and I'll make a donation to my local food bank (once I work out how to, there isn't a big obvious DONATE button)

Thread highjack for the 2024 edition.

What an amazing ride (and indeed walk); absolutely beautiful, especially with the weather that was provided.  Not exactly at the peak of fitness myself I stretched full value into extra time (3 mins 50 sec over, according to technology).  And yes, I spent more than 3 mins 50 sec stopping to take photos, but I'd rather have them than a point.*  I did get to do the final off-road section as the moon came up, which was pretty cool and a little eerie.

Great sustenance at the finish, not to mention the excellent mug collection of the Northallerton Scouts and Guides. Many thanks to Deano, CrinklyLion and other helpers. Oh, and I'd like to know how a yacf apron came into being!

In summary, I highly recommend you do this ride, once.

*There was also a 200 km running at the same time, which started an hour before us, so even I could reasonably expect to get back before the final finishers on that. I don't purposefully keep organisers waiting around for me.
Think it possible that you may be mistaken.

Oh, and I'd like to know how a yacf apron came into being!

It was a present from fboab (I think following the time I burnt my right tit getting something out of the microwave-on-top-of-the-fridge-freezer and posted about in on t'forum) and has some audax history. I seem to recall that it completed at least one audax - an Easter Arrow - on its way to me as well as doing sterling duty in the kitchens in Barney.

That is a great moon photo, Ben. I did specifically warn riders about the full moon, and not to be caught out on those moors after dark ;D

Bonus photo above Farndale, just before the Lion, thanks to one of the riders:

Was it too early for the fabulous display of daffodils in Farndale?  They are out here in by-election land but you're a bit further north (and closer to Scandinavia) than we are!  Some great pictures and anecdotes for those rides.

They were out at the hall, and I did ask a few riders, but no one noticed if they were. I didn't even get chance to tell the tale of how Farndale was nearly flooded to provide water for Hulll.

The ultimate indignity!  You don't mention Cow Green and I won't mention Kielder!

I didn't notice daffodils.  There were lots of snowdrops further on though.
Think it possible that you may be mistaken.
