It’s Phil

Have you changed your profile name? Not sure how I didn't twig if that isn't the case.

Yes new forum name

Are you the Phil who still owes me £50 from Epiphany a few years back?  ;)

Nope I’m the one who gave the owed money to Nick Brunner who confirmed he’d handed over to you yonks back.

One of my local pubs, the Lytton Arms , Old Knebworth Will once again be hosting take out beer and pizza plus small outdoor market next Sunday. It’ll be from 10am to 2pm.  There’s a green over the road for sitting on for drinking, eating and socialising.  Be good if any of you can make it across. I’ll probably aim to be there around 11:30am or so.

Where did you get the name from? I think we could have crowdsourced a good name for you, if we had known you were looking for a change.

^^^ Points of orders, I don't think a Lightening is a US fighter jet, I think its what the RAF calls the F-35.  And secondly I am mortally wounded on behalf of all Mid-Essex yacf and ACME peeps!  We'd of come up with an absolutely brilliant name for you had we been given the opportunity!!!

There's nothing stopping us from coming up with a name and using it anyway!

I'm not sure about tomorrow night for quite a few reasons, one I'm still a bit uncomfortable about gatherings, two potential rain, but more so, three - I've no dyno on the bike at the moment...  so even though it's "free" beer I might give it a miss or at most a flying visit...

I've now been reminded of the book thunder and lightnings which I read when I was just a lad!

I think we should therefore call the artist formerly known as Phil the English Electric Lightning to differentiate from the American one.

So - just to confirm, Huggie's for this Wed and Tomsk for next?
Both bring own drinking apparatus ?
Both bring own booze ?

Yes-ish! I believe the Brewmaster is offering samples this Wednesday though. But I wouldn't want to to drain his supplies, so I'll bring a bottle or two. Dunmow Co-op is doing a 4 for £7 deal at the moment [normally you're rationed to two bottles at a time].
I can provide freshly dishwashered pint glassware to drink from.
The beer bottle menu is:
  • Exe Valley Autumn Glory, slightly hoppy amber ale, ABV 5%, bottled 1st March 2020
  • Witbier, Wheat beer in the style of Blue Moon, ABV 4.7%, bottled 9th April 2020
  • Lemon Balm Citra IPA, hoppy amber ale with hints of lemon (maybe, not tried it yet), ABV 4.75%, bottled 16th March 2020
  • Milk Stout, easy drinking dark ale with a milky sweetness, ABV 5%, bottled 22nd December 2019.  Limited stock also available in keg
  • Coffee Milk Stout, easy drinking dark ale with hints of coffee (maybe, not tried it yet), ABV 4.7%, bottled 18th March 2020
Some bottles a little young and may not have reached full conditioned maturity, but that's the chance you take!

Next question....should I be selling tickets to the highest bidders for the 5 available socially distanced seats?
After all the recent excellent weather looks like this Wednesday may not be quite so warm & dry  ::-)
There are 6 socially distanced chairs in the back garden.  If more than that turn up there is the field outside the gate to spill out on to, or the front hop garden.
If you are happy with the BNB beer selection there is no need to bring bottles with you, unless you want to do swapsies or fear that the 50-ish bottles in stock won't be sufficient for the collective thirst.

There will be the usual virtual joining option available too.

That's very generous - donations to the Brewery Fund?

Donations of £5 for 3+ bottles seems to be the previous form  :)

Socially distanced meet up with Nick Brunner today at Birchanger near Bishop’s  Stortford.  Beer and picnic enjoyed by both using some picnic tables we found at the sports social club.  A good couple of hours catchup. Note I brought a pint glass with me. Getting posh!

Just over 100km ridden by both. So nice easy day out.

I'm hoping to be there, sometime after 8, after a spot of noodling.

I am trying to arrange the necessary permits etc for our usual Mersea Midsummer Madness - possibly the 17th or 24th ?

No Yacht Club this year but my new raised beds are waiting to be admired.

You're not up north now Joergen.  We have facilities indoors down here.

OD has purchased a new book. I vote that he provides a synopsis of the following chapter this Wednesday:

"Sudden Death and Sheep Stealing"

You'll have to give me some time.  The chapter you refer to is Chapter 11 and I'm a slow reader.  Plus the writing is quite small and there aren't many pictures.  I wonder if the author, a Ronald Turnball, makes mention of orange trowels?  If he doesn't I might have to write a sequel for him, I have always suspected there's a book in me
