Hydraulic hose roll?

(1/2) > >>

LittleWheelsandBig:
I prefer to have workshop rolls of cable housing and now hydraulic hose, rather than precut kits.

What Shimano hydraulic brake-compatible brands should I look for and who actually has it in stock?

BFC:
5mm Hydraulic brake hose (search for this term) yields plenty of suppliers of short lengths (up to 3m), but no bulk suppliers. Bore sizes in the range 2.0 to 2.9 mm, current shimano is around 2.3mm. These hoses are polyester reinforced. Factories clearly get it from somewhere on big reels but no obvious outlets to the real world.

5mm pneumatic hose (Nylon) is only rated to 400psi, and has a too large bore for sleeve/olive combinations, but is easily available in 30m reels.

Paul H:
Jagwire do workshop rolls, I've bought cut lengths from a bike workshop. But the distributor who are just up the road from me, Morelarge, won't sell to the public, though you might be able to get a roll via an account holder.
Do you know what the service interval is?  I haven't seen any mention of it, I know 4 - 6 years is the recommendation for motorcycle hose, but that's DOT fluid.
I'm used to changing cable housing every couple of years on an all weather bike, and feel the benefit. I'm interested to know if there's a benefit from changing hoses.

Gattopardo:
Goodridge supply bike lines, so they many be able to tell you if there is a supplier of the ptfe lined brake hose and fittings to make your own.  They are in Devon, or were. Here the contact page https://www.goodridge.co.uk/pages/contact-us

Maybe Think Automotive might be able to help, but checking they are now in ashford in Kent. https://www.thinkauto.com/acatalog/Locate_Us.html

Good luck.

Lightning Phil:
You can buy the jag wire hydraulic hose by the metre.
