TV you enjoyed as a child and an adult

I was pleasantly suprised by how much I enjoyed an episode of the Professionals I watched at lunch time today.

Are there any tv programmes that have stood the test of time for you?

In the same mould, The Sweeney, but Porridge is probably the most timeless.

"You're nicked!"

I loved The Sweeney (probably because I was really too young and so wasn't supposed to be watching it...) but I only saw the later ones first time round, so the re-runs have been great.

I've also been watching the repeats of Minder (which is probably quite embarrassing...!)

Dad's Army.

I bought a DVD of one series when the kids and I went up to Ullapool in October, in case of wet weather. Once I'd explained some of the characters nuances to them they lapped it up and I loved seeing it all over again!
It is simpler than it looks.

Catweazle.

I loved both series as a nipper, but watching them again 35 years later I realise that series 1 (with Carrot) was quality, whereas series 2 (with Cedric) didn't have the same style or comedy and was less good as a result.

I've been showing the current re-runs to my son (11). He doesn't understand it, how do I explain?  :)
